I have a 85mm F1.8 prime, would it be a huge difference betweenthe 100mm f2.8 macro lens? Does it have to say macro lensto do macroshots?

IMO not much:

The macro can get to life-size 1:1 (31cm) vs only 1:8 (85mm) for the 85mm. The MTF are pretty much similar except for the corners on the 85mm being worse @ the larger apertures while a macro should be sharper from edge to edge (also less noticeable on the distortion i.e. flat field)
