Anyone have any experience with this lens and its performance at max zoom on people shots, specially group photos?

Are they sharp? Looking at this as my carry around lens.

This lens is quite sharp as I do have one; however, @ 135mm f/5.6 the depht of field is only a 1/3 of a foot so for group shot the people outside this area will not be in focus!
-> You need to increase the aperture!

I have this lens and I have not had any problems with it, its one of my many lenses and one of my favorite besides my 70-200mm F2,8L IS. Now that you will get a really sharp photo.

This is good to hear. At least I know that I have a good lens.

Now the challenge is how to use proper technique to get good shots. Now it is the user and not the equipment!
