Hi

Is there a simple list of what order all these lens letters mean in relation to quality

1. Ie canon lens listed on Amazon
Im confused with EF or EF-S or other letters, some dont have any letters?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-75-300...sbs_ce_title_3

2. What is a canon L series, and how can you tell if its one?

3. Is auto focus in the lens? i assumed it was part of the camera, see this lens
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-75-300...sbs_ce_title_3

Is it worth considering the Sigma lenses? (they also have many letter :?

Thanks

EF or EF-S stands for the type of Canon lens mount, EF-S is designed for APS-C (1.6x) sensors (except for D30, D60 & 10D) and not designed for full frame or APS-H (1.3x) sensors or film. EF lenses fit every Canon EOS digital & film SLR.

Canon L series are Canons professional lenses (L stands for "Luxury") made of the best optical glassand give the best image quality. They have fast & quiet AF motors (USM: Ultrasonic motors) and yes AFbuilt into the lens. They come in black or white in colour and all can be distinguished bya thin red ring at the end of the lens.

Sigma does make some very good lenes (EX range) and are generally cheaper than Canon L lenses.

Have a look at this link http://www.photozone.de/reviews

Search the net plenty of infomation about Canon lenses.
