I'm looking for a landscape lens to use on a 40D and a FF body in the future. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Jim

Two obvious ones:

16-35 f2.8 L
17-40 f4 L

I quite liked my Sigma 12-24 on my 20D. Hated it on my 5D. Sold it. In its defense I think I probably had a poor copy I have seen much better pics from it online than mine was able to produce. [I don't completely discount user error, but my copy was not a landscape lens capable of matching the 5D sensor even on a solid tripod with mirror lock up engaged.]

Like the 24-105 on my 5D, wrong focal length range for me on a crop.

YMMV of course.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I already have the 24-105 F4 but find it does not go wide enough on my 40D. Maybe I should buy a FF body instead - perhaps the 5D replacement.

Much better idea.

Effectively doubles your lens collection. :-)

And because the IS is in the lens you don't have to pay for it again when you upgrade your camera.

(I couldn't resist the dig...:P )
