hi, have recently bought a eos40d and the kit 17-85mm IS USMlens, and then a few weeks ago i bought the 50mm mkII 1.8 prime.

i think i may be getting too excited about increasing the size of my lens collection before i really get to grips with the ones i have already !

i'm not really sure what my style is leaning towards next - a bigger zoom or a wider angle, or even a macro.

should i take some more shots with these 2 lenses 1st and not worry about getting another one just yet?

or just keep adding to the weight of my camera bag !

thanks in advance

A lot of the answer depends upon your disposable income.:-)
I got 2 more lenses withing 5 months of getting the camera, but I know what I want them for.

Get yourself the Canon 70-300 IS.

Combined with your 2 existing lenses that will give you coverage from 17-300mm * 1.6 = 28 - 480mm equivalent on 35mm.

That will give you time and space to figure out what kind of photography you like. The 17-85 and 70-300 are a very well matched pair.

You may end up selling them both in due course, but with those 3 lenses you will be fine for a long time to come: past the point where you know exactly what your next lens should be because you have had enought time to experiment and figure it out for yourself.
