Unfortunately that's only part of it. How far is it from 1st baseline to pitcher's mound? How far, corner to corner?

Pitcher's Rubber to Home Plate is 60' 6", but nothing poetic was ever written about that (to my knowledge.)

Bases are all at right angles, so the distance across the diamond can be calculated using the Pythagorean theorem. The result is 127' ~3.35", which means that the Pitcher's Rubber is closer to Home Plate than it is to Second Base.

Edit: Replaced Mound with Rubber.

Yep - and depending on the field and your seat along the baselineyou can count on 30 to 60 feet from the baseline to the stands. Figure about 45 feet from baseline to seats perpendicular to pitchers mound - 45 feet from baseline to mound. 90 feet just to the pitcher - assuming you're in the front row. That only gives 30 additional feet up into the stands to be able to reach the pitcher with a 300mm lens. Not a lot.

Thanks TCav and JohnG,

Now I have a better understanding on the distance.
It'd be just right for Outfielder and or 1st base depending on the seat with a 300mm.
and assuming its 1st row.

and with my camera using aperture of 4 and 5.6 will not have the stop action results
on the indoor and fast actions (only facial and jersey) with blurred hands.
