Default Tamron 18-270 VC - Anyone Tried This?

Am looking at a carry lens with a wide to zoom range and the Tamron 18-270 with Vibration Compensation comes to mind.

Has anyone tried this lens? If so, what is its performance like - in particular, image quality, focus accuracy?

Thanks a lot.

I also have the 28-300 VC and find it a very nice lens. Sometimes, though, I find the 28mm not wide enough. I am willing to trade off some length to gain a little on the wide.

If the 18-270 performs like the 28-300, then it will be an acceptable lens for me.

It is a pretty good all in one lens, i had the Tamron 18-270 VC and sold it because i went to Pentax but am looking to buy a Tamron 18-250 for it as well, a lot of my pictures in the forum are with the 18-270 VC,

Yesterday i went to Athens at the Acropolis and took my K20D with 3 lenses no more it is to much hassle to lug em around.

View lots of pictures taken with the 18-270 on different forums and they all looked great. Planning on getting this lens for my self, if nobody gives it to me for my up coming birthday.

I have been debating buying the Tamron 18-270 VC, or the Canon EF-S 18-200mm lens. How are the optics on the Tamron VC lenses, when compared to the Canon lenses? Likewise, how durable are Tamron products?
