Default Sigma 18-50 F2.8

Can anyone provide some feedback on this lens? I just purchased it and would like to know if anyone else is using this lens and what they think of it? Would would be a better range in Sigma?

Since I see you're using a Canon 50D, I moved this thread to our Canon Lenses Forum, where you'll be more likely to get responses from some of our Canon shooters that may be familiar with how this lens works on a Canon dSLR.

P.S.

Sigma has offered several different versions of their 18-50mm f/2.8 DC Lens, including versions with and without HSM (Hypersonic Motor Focusing). This is a review of the first version of that lens (no HSM):

I am also using this on a 50D.

I've had this lens now for a little over a month. I bought it for taking indoor shots at birthday parties, church events, etc.. I have used it a few times (bday party, trip to state capital, during a mountain trip for landscapes, and with friends and family).

My main lens is the 70-200mm Canon in shooting sports so I don't use the 18-50 every week but wanted it for the low light capability of closer (not macro) subjects and maybe some landscapes.

So far I am happy with the lens except it tends distort the edges especially close up around the wider end.

I have had this lens for about 1 week now and i do like it quite a bit... I haven't really used it for Macro yet, but for regular shooting it's been pretty good!

I use this lens for indoor when I do not need a long reach. Nice lens.

But my 500D usually has the Sigma 18-125 OS attached. Nice reach, wide at one end even for indoors and has OS.
