Default EF 100mm f2.8 marco

Does any know if canon discontinue the ef 100mm f2.8 marco lens. It is no longer on their webpage. They have the ef 100mm f2.8 L marco lens only in the 100mm range.

yes, that is correct, the L IS version replaced the older one. you will have to find one used, or see if some vendors still have left over stock.

They are still available, I would suspect that we may see an IS non L version in the future.

i think that is why they just announced the IS version of the 60mm macro, to serve that purpose.

well, there are no cheap FF cameras, so they figure if you have the money to afford it you can pay 1000USD. plus new FF digital cameras demand quality glass to perform well, so it really does make sense when thought that way.

(yes, they are completely ignoring film users)
