Oh - looks like it's fairly easy to hand-hold. My mistake!

That's good, what were we worried about then. Problem solved, sell a few vital organs and get one!

I've actually played with the 200-500 at a camera event and it is very nice, I would love to find someone who is using it in anger.

500 dollars, that puts the bigma and the 100-400 L out of range.

The only 500mm that is light and relatively fast in AF is the Sony/Minolta CAT (quite cheap too in the used market for about $500), but you need to switch camera's:

I think I have decided on the canon 70-300 lens as It fits my price range well and I think it will fit my needs as well. I almost think it will be my main lens but we will see. Thanks for all the help! Where is the best place to buy lenses at? I did notice they are the same price virtually anywhere but anybody have really good experience from one particular place?

Is there a difference when looking at the canon ef 70-300mm IS USM when one says imported and one says USA, other thanimported is cheaper? This is at B&Hphoto and adorama says the same although they add in refrub to the mix.

Warranty the US one has a US warranty, the imported on is gray market. So if something fails in the 1 year you need to send it back to BH to get it fixed. A refreb is another option if you want to save some money. It carry a canon warranty if you get it form adorama. But you need to send it back to adorama if you need warranty work. I have brought referb stuff from adorama in the past, never an issue.

If you have any questions about referb you can contact helen oster from adorama that post on this board. She list her email at adorama on her profile and is very quick to respond.
