Well I decided not to go with the canon 70-300. I figured it would not get the reach I was hoping for. So instead I went for the canon Xl prime 1200mm. I cant wait till it comes in!!

Well...My lens came in, the canon EF70-300 usm. The manual says the USM is for quiet and quick AF. This thing might be quick but I would not say quiet. I can hear it the whole time when I have the shutter button depressed halfway. Sounds like a little gyro spinning around. However as far as the reach goes, Im impressed and i feel this will be a good addtion to my lenses. The lens feels very well built compared to my EF-S kit lens!! Thanks for the advice, it was good and I feel I got a great product for my shooting!! Ill be going to Chicago in May and cant wait to take it with me!!

That's mainly because there is a little gyro going for the IS..... nothing to do with the near silent AF. If you switch of IS then things will be peaceful
