yeah... I found an old 400d with a battery grip for 410 euros and if you want it with the EF-S 17-85mm lens you should cash out 700 euros.. then another old 450d for 360 euros (just the body) and a 2 year old 40d for 400 euros (again just the body)... so I have a lot of asking to do in the Canon club about which of these cameras would be suitable for the wonderful Orestegor f/4 300mm and... I need to decide on weather I should by an old camera (just the body) and continue using my Canon s5 IS or get a new 1000d...

anyway, thank you guys, you make this forum wonderful =)

Between the 1000d, 400d or the 450d, the 450d is a better camera. The 12mp sensor is a really good one. Tough call between the 40D and 450D, the 40 is a bigger camera, built better. But it is not light compare to the 450d. So that mf lens you have is not a light lens. So you my want to go with a lighter body if you plan on carrying it around. But you still can get the 450d new. I have no issues with getting used lens, but on the body there is more thing that can go wrong, and getting them fix can be expensive. So I tend to advise against used bodies.

Thanks Cistac, I was in your neck of the woods in the 90's just a bit north of you, part of IFOR. Fought the Sava river in 95.
