Default can I use Meyer Optik Gorlitz 300mm f/4 Orestegor lens on Canon 1000D?

I really need some help on this one wise people... I got a Meyer Optik Orestegor f/4 300mm lens, but so far I used my Canon s5 IS.. and I still use it but.. I'd like to buy some professional camera... so I really need your advice on which camera would be best for me to buy as a beginner and still be able to use Orestegor... I had in mind the Canon 1000D cos it's cheep and I can afford it but I wouldn't buy it if you say it's not ok or if I can't use this lense... help me please

cistac
if you post a picture of the back of the lens showing the mount and maybe provide some measurements im sure some of the wiser people in here will respond
also google the lens model, and serial number, and see what camera it was intended to fit
cheers
pete

PLEASE NOTE the 100d is equivalent toa rebel XS or KISS F, which embodies a canon EF-S mount system for the lens to attach to

yes! it's exactly the same, and it has that m42 fancy mount... one gentleman from the forum (Big Dawg) has the same lens and uses a Pentax camera but we dont have them around here in Macedonia :S

They make that mount a m4/3 to m42 mounts. If you get a olympus epl-1 or a panasonic G2. But I think they make a ef to m42 adapter for the canon if you go with a canon 1000d. But no company will tell you how well the lens will work. But it should be find.

Bigdawg has posted some nice sample with that lens with the pentax. So it should work pretty the same with a canon body with that lens. And the canon 1000D body is less then the mirco4/3 bodies from olympus and panasonic.

well I'll certainly ask in the Canon club, that would be my first choice cos the Canon 1000D with the beginners kit is like... less then 500 dollars... I'm sure it's not such a bad camera for that money

thanks again shoturtle

If your looking to spend 500$. Have a look at Craigs List for a 40D, much better option. Many photographers are dumping them for so cheap because of a upgrade. For the 500 you may even get a grip and extra battery

Garman, Cistac in not in the states. Macedonia is not that big of a country, and things are not as ready available as in the states.
