Default Canon 50mm 1.8 - What add ons?

Hello All !

I have been shooting around with my "Nifty Fifty" for about two weeks and love it ! I am still getting used to zooming with my feet since the kit lens spoiled me in a way.. lol

What I am looking for are what are good add ons to get with 50mm 1.8

Would I benefit in getting a Lens hood with it? My understanding is if I do get a lens hood, my pictures would have a richer color and deeper saturation?

Can anyone please post a picture with Lens hood and one without ? Preferably with a 50mm 1.8 =)

Thanks!
Ryan

Lens hoods are always a good idea. They prevent (or, at least, reduce) flare. They do not alter the color or saturation, though, by reducing flare, they lessen the effect of extraneous light which might wash out the color and saturation within the frame.

Here's the EF 50mm F1.8 II with a rubber hood.

Here is the photo of the one I got off of ebay, that is a copy of the canon design lens hood for the 50mm 1.8, the ES-62

I just found samples with the 50mm with a Circular Polarizer...I probably pick one up.

Non-Polarized:

You can mount the cpl on the canon design lens hood without issues.
