Default Lense upgrade 70-300 is usm

Hello all, I recently bought a t2i with the 18-55 is and the 75 -300 non is . I am using the 75-300 alot but feel it's not really cutting it(see links below).I understood it was a cheap lense when i bought it and i got a deal on it so it's no biggy . Is the 70-300 is usm lense considerably better? from some of what i have read on here it would seem so, but how much . shooting sports(outdoor for this lense) wildlife and kids at play. Mainly the sharpness and overall quality is just not there .

The 75-300 is not a strong performer, but like you say it often works out cheap in the package deals and gets people started.

The 70-300mm IS USM is a completely different kettle of fish to the 75-300 and any of the other Canon fit 70-300 lenses, it is very sharp for a non L lens and with fast AF so it is a good option for outdoor sports. It is not good for low light/under lights/indoor work as you want to have f2.8 for this, but then you would be looking at many times the price to get a lens such as the Sigma 120-300mm f2.8.

Nope, like I say there is nothing for Canon mount in this range that is close be is Canon, Tamron, Sigma. The next step up after the Canon 70-300mm IS USM is the Sigma 100-300mm f4.

There are two one the standard would be list twice (one USA model, one Grey market model and the DO version (diffractive Optics) which are shorter and clearer than the full sixed version. It also will be listed twice for USA and Grey market versions.

The DO is a faster focusing lens, but not really that much better then the regular 70-300 to be 2x the price.
