Default trying to understand aperture and depth of field

Ok, so if I am shooting with a canon 50mm or 85mm, would f/2.0 give me a blurred background, or do I go higher? What other factors do I need to think about to get the blurred background?

You can go here and play around to see how ISO, aperture, shutter speed, etc. all affect an image.
