besides adorama and BH, what other reputable sites are there for photo equipment?
After a lot of thinking i decided to get the 15-85mm for now rather than a new camera. i bought a 70-300mm from adorama refurbished, which is a nice way to save, but sadly no luck finding a refurb 15-85 yet.
any ideas will be appreciated.
thx

Check ResellerRatings.com.

And if you're looking for used, which isn't a bad idea when shopping for lenses, KEH.com is an excellent source, and I've often done well searching eBay.

Yeah, the lens is less then a year old, so there is really not to many used or refrebs out there.

amazon is another good seller, but try to get one sold by amazon, not a third party. Adorama is open today.

The 17-85mm is a useful walk around/vacation lens. I have one. It is at its best at the long end, and supposedly (PopPhoto) is sharper than the 15-85mm, but with much more barrel distortion on the wide end. It does not need to be stopped down to be sharp, and at the long end is sharp enough to allow major cropping, adding to the versatility. It has IS and ring USM; the latter means fast focusing.

I had a 17-85, and was very happy with it, but the new 15-85 is MUCH better. Check out the blur charts at slrgear.com.

Even the new 18-55 is sharper than the 17-85.

The weakest in the current lineup is the 18-125.
