Default Canon 18-55 IS vs 50mm 1.8 indoors?

Hi,
I understand indoors, without a flash, the 50mm would be better, but with a flash, would one give a better result, non sport, people, party type shots?
Camera would be a XSi.

Thanks

with a flash it won't really matter. the 18-55 is plenty sharp and equivelent to the 50 in the mid apertures you would use with flash.

So, actually the kit lens would be better with flash for many indoor situations with flash because it gives you more flexibility in your framing.
