There's the Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5, but it's not stabilized, and the stabilized one isn't as good.

Well there are 3 Canon wide(ish) zooms that are quite sharp.

Wide open they are all quite reasonable, and stopped down a bit all are sufficiently sharp that good technique will be absolutely essential to get the best from them..

17-55 f2.8 IS
15-85 IS
10-22

@Peripatetic.

The tokina 11-16 is very sharp. So is the canon 24-105. I say 24-105 because the more i see the pictures from the 24-105, specially landscapes and group photos, the more i am leaning towards getting a 5D and 24-105 selling my mark III and 16-35 .

My 24-105 is very sharp on my 5D2.

Suffers somewhat from distortion, vignetting, etc. None of which I care about.

But the OP was talking about on a crop I believe.

some of the sharpest lenses i have used

Canon 85mm F1.2
Canon 85mm F1.4
Canon 70-200 F2.8(atleast my copy was sharp enough for me hehe)
Sigma 150mm macro
Canon 90mm TS-E (still cant beat the sharpness straight out of the camera. Use this lens for even portraits and family photos(father/mother and Kid) giving strange all head in focus shots)
Distagan 28mm
Canon 500mm F4(notoriously sharp)
Canon 300mm F2.8
sigma 120-300(the legend at any cost )
sigma 12-24( i personally like this lens and the sharpness is fantastic for such a wonderful FF lens. Dont think there is a match for FF users at that price point from any other lens)
