Same with me, Jim. Most of my shots are either at the football field, outdoor track or sitting on the floor in a high school gym somewhere. When I'm not doing those activities, I do remove my filter sometimes, but more often than not, it stays on the lens anyway. Not to mention the fact that the quality UV filters like the Hoya HD that I have on all my lenses truly reduces haze and improves color quality of my outdoor shots and I don't see any degradation on my indoor shots.

The awesomeness of Forums is the sharing of information

See Good Times with Bad Filters.

Love the Article - so funny and neat to see the effects. thanks for Posting!!!

Thanks to all of you for weighing in. I am convinced that there are differences and I definitely agree that if you are going to drop big bucks on an expensive lens, you want the best out of your pictures...so don't cheap out on a $20 filter -

I'm going to be using my big lens out doors, on the water and really out and about - a front protective filter is key, along with quality Glass.

Thanks Again
