Default Is either the 75-300 or the 55-200 Canon lens optically ....

better? I can get the 55-200 zoom for 75 bucks shipped, WITH a UV haze filter (its barely used), but I am thinking if 1. the optical quality of the 70-300 is better or 2. about the same, I might get the 300 just because of the extra length.

Anybody with any personal exepience?

Thanks much

Which did you end up with? I was lookin' at the 55-200..

I know nothing about the 55-200, but I can say that the 75-300 is not good at all (the non-DO version.) There has been a lot of talk about this lens over the last few months, so just do a little searching and you'll find all you could want about how it isn't very good.
