Default Whether such terrible 18-55?

Certainly, to use constantly objective of initial level - it is not good. But, on travel, for simplification of weight - it is possible. It is not necessary to neglect work of engineers.

Yes, except that two of them seem to be closer than the minimum focus distance of the lens and are therefore out of focus.

Otherwise it's a very good lens for the price and gets an undeservedly bad rap.

Nice pictures Excalebur. The Canon 18-55mm IS is a good lens.

Things I like about mine:
Good sharpness, colour and contrast.
Excellent IS system.
Very light to carry.

Things I don't like:
Cheap build quality.
Relatively high CA at some settings.
Filter threads rotate during focusing.
A bit slow at the long end.

Overall, I think the 18-55mm IS and the 55-250mm IS are great
lenses, especially when you consider the low price.

Taking 18-135 mm then 28-135 mm has not found strong differences from usual 18-55. As it was expressed in this съмке. Many thanks, friends that my attempts to tell have estimated.

G'day excalibur

Your photos and text are good - I can easily see what it is that you are describing
There are many people around the world who use the basic kit lenses all the time and these users are very happy

Many of us "serious" photographers, especially those who make big prints [say, 40cm x 60cm] will notice some issues with sharpness & colour ... but the majority of day-to-day photographers will not see these things

Can we see more of your photos please?
Regards, Phil

The poor old 18-55 does get some flack.... though I don't think it's a bad lens at all- though some seem better than others.! The only thing I don't like is the awful manual focus ring....
