Hah, you and Eric both have 'long lens fever' :-) Seriously, the 50-500 seems like a great lens. Show us some pictures!!

Did you buy two Bigmas to show us those pictures? Man, you're serious!

:-)

I figured I'd use them for weight training and I'm used to using two dumbbells. I figured they may come in handy for taking a snapshot or two as well.

To be serious, I haven't even received the lens yet because I made a terrible boo boo when ordering from B&H; I ordered "parcel post" without realizing it. I should get the lens sometime in 2006.

Parcel post goes over Venezuala if I recall correctlly, right? Hehe, you better order your third one, and have it shipped FedEx this time :-)

Now what are you going to do with the 70-200? Sell it? Open it so you can learn how a lens works inside?

I'm playing with my 70-200 as you will be able to see in this thread:

http://www.stevesforums.com/phpBB2/v...ic.php?t=21643

I certainly think about all of that 2.8 stuff with the other more expensive 70-200 L, but begin to wonder when I see myself stopping down to 5.6 to get something from my f4.

I think the best quality of the 2.8 over the 4 isn't the ability to take pictures at 2.8 but rather the increased light available during focusing. I rarely shoot at 2.8 but focus sure is quick and easy!

Good point about focussing Ohenry!

I do like to take shots at F2.8, the shallow DOF is attractive, as is the extra stop I gain.

Default I love my F4

Update: fixed the links. Sorry about that.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I got my 70-200 F4 a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with it. I just got my DR for Christmas and this is my first SLR camera.

I posted a few of my favorite shots. The linked photos are original pixels from the F4.

mthird, please fix your links above as soon as possible as I'm very interested in seeing your photos with the F4. An error message comes up because I am "apparently not the owner" of this album.

Thanks
