Finally, the weekend is almost here - we're so excited! My gear has changed slightly but still think I should be good for all around pictures during the day and even night if we get the chance. It'll be my T3i with a 17-55/2.8 attached. The lens has a B+W 010 F-Pro MRC filter, rubber hood, and black neoprene lens coat on it to help keep it protected. I also picked up a Black Rapid strap that I've been using for about 3 weeks and am very happy with. Lastly, I am going to bring my Gorillapod along if we head out at night. Some spare batteries and a backup memory card and I should be good to go! Thanks everyone for humoring me through these growing pains - I'll post a few pics here when we get back.

Yes I like the blackrapid straps I use the rs-7 version and I added a very short wrist/hand strap to the body, makes it hard to knock out of your hand when you are holding it.

I love my blackrapid strap as well, very comfortable and it will make it very hard for anyone to rip off your camera.. Have fun

The RS-7 is the one I have too. Very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. I had my camera at a local brewery for a new release the other evening and had no problem milling through crowds and still grabbing it for a quick shot.

What a weekend! The whole family had a blast and I still managed to take quite a few pictures. Many were rushed as my concern with setting up a picture was not shared with most of the family. Hence I often snapped hurriedly and then jogged to catch up with them as they disappeared into the crowds. All my daytime shots were with the 17-55/2.8 and after midnight I ventured out into Times Square alone with my 50/1.4 to see the people. Thanks for all the advice and comments from everyone - I can't wait to go back!

Congratulation! It sounds like you and your family had a great time.
