Default BestBuy

I have noticed that BestBuy is sold out (in store and on-line) of many, many Canon lenses.

It looks like they are exiting the DSLR lens market. To me, the only way a store like BestBuy is out of half of their lenses, it that want to be out of lenses.

Anyone have an idea of what's going on at BB?

Even their website has a lot of SOLD OUT ONLINE buttons for Canon lenses.

I'm not a Nikon shooter, but there are also several Nikon lenses out of stock too.

... but not to the same extent as the Canon lenses.

Perhaps this is all just a recovery from the flooding in Thailand.

Don't see Best Buy staying in business for more than a year, two at the most. Their stores are carrying less stock and what stock they have is being spaced apart more to look like the store is well stock. Or to put it another way, remember Circuit City.

No they will be here for awhile longer then that.. I have family that works for Best Buy plus i was a manager for a long time for them.. What is going on is most of the lens will be a Special order. to save money on dead stock.. They loose money everytime they have to discount it.. So if they special order it for you .. and you just return it, there will be a 15-25% restocking fee.. Just like at the camera stores.. Plus it will help on what they have to claim for inventory, when they get audited each year.

Try Amazon.com or Adorama: better pricing and better return policy. I see no reason to pine!

Just got a 77mm Hoya circular polarizing filter at BestBuy in Canada. List price was $129.... it was clearance priced at $9.95. I bought the last 2 that they had in stock.
