Default Out With The Old In With The New Lens

Just sold a 70-200mm f2.8L non IS, 50mm f1.8 (already have 50mm f1.4) and a 70-300mm IS, all Canon lenses. Now I'm looking at getting a Canon 70-300mm L or Canon 100-400mm L lens as a replacement to the 70-200mm and 70-300mm lenses. One lens being easier to carry around than two and IS is a must as I just couldn't hold the 70-200 still enough without IS and 70-300 was not sharp (did find out both lenses were out of adjustment but the shop I took them to did have them fixed before selling). Or maybe get the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 OS with a 1.4 TC. Any suggestions?

I think a zoom with 300 on the telphoto end is a better general purpose lens than 200 on the telephoto end.

Think about resale. If you ever have to sell, the Canon lenses are going to hold their value better than a Sigma.

You haven't mentioned what make/model of camera your attaching this to. Generally match the level / quality of the lens to the quality / cost of the Camera.

If you have a REBEL for instance, just go for the Sigma's (lol).

The new lens will be used on my 7D most of the time, when it's not taken from me by my wife and her 70D. Still not sure but will probably stay with Canon and the 70-300L. Though the 70-200 f4L looks good too.
