Default Need to replace my old Kit lens

I have a Canon xsi and the kit lens that came with it is acting up. I want to replace it with something else. Do i just go with canon 18-55 II or should I go with something else?

I just use this as a general lens for walking around. An everyday lens. I have a 55-250 lens to get a better reach when needed.

Thanks

The 15-85 is a nice replacement, and if that's too rich for your blood, there's the Sigma 17-70 that's also nice.

Both of those are too much for me.

There's the 18-55 II or the 18-55 STM. The STM version focuses faster and quieter than the previous version, which can be nice when recording video.
