Default EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM recommended for Canon 7D???

I'm looking to expand my lens collection. While going over the selection on the canon page, the 24mm (and THE PRICE) caught my eye.
I am waiting for the 70-200mm f/4 L to be delivered this week....
Has anyone tried the 24mm f/2.8 STM? What did you think about it? Would you consider buying it if you had a canon 7d?

I've heard the STM's aren't the quickest focusing lenses, thus you might want to try one pre-purchase if AF speed is a requirement...
