Default Inexpensive telephoto for birds, fauna, etc.

I'm looking to buy a used lens for my Canon EOS for birds, fauna.

Choice seems to be narrowing down to a Tamron 200-500 or a Sigma 170-500.

Trying to keep the used cost under $500 but preferably $300-400.

Any recommendations, or experiences with these lenses?

Thanks!

Thanks TCAV,

I'm aware of those prices. I'm wondering if the its worth the extra $90 to go for the tamron over the sigma.

I would go for the Tamron, and if I were to go with the Sigma, I'd get the DG version.

There's generally a good reason why they charge more for one used lens than they do for another.
