has anyone had any experience with this lens..as far as the quiet and speed of the autofocus..Like my other thriead looking for a fas quiet autofocus tele lens..Also have my eyes on the Canon 70-200mm f4 and the sigma 70-200mm f2.8 but do not know about the autofocus on these lensea..The Sigma would be a nice fit if it did not search for auto and was quiet on my 70d..I have heard the Canon are vere quiet and very sharp

The Canon is optically superior to the Sigma, but only just. As for AF speed, they both perform well. The Canon is smaller and about half the weight of the Sigma.

BTW, the title is "Canon 70-300 f4". If only wishing made it so, but there's no such lens.

There is no 70-300 f4. That is the title of this topic. That's what I was referring to.

That's a 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6. That means the aperture varies with the focal length: F/4.0 at 70mm, f/4.5 at 100mm, f/5 at 135mm, and f/5.6 at 200mm.

A 70-300mm f4 would have a constant f/4.0 aperture throughout it's zoom range.
