I don't use that lens a lot (just not the focal length I need too often) but it's a nice lens. I have been happy with the results, but what I use it for isn't a type of photography that I am very demanding with. The IS is handy, but not really required. Sigma makes a similar focal length lens that is f2.8. That could be a better choice because of the better fstop, but its a question of need.
