I went to a local Ritz this weekend to try out a couple of lenses, looking to round out my collection (for now) with a long lens. I tried the Sigma 75-300 (non-APO), the Canon 70 - 300 USM, and the new Quantaray 55-200 DC (for Digital Cameras). I'll be darned if the Quantaray didn't beat both of the others in both sharpness and brightness in my in-store testing. So I took it home to try out in the real world, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I've attached a straight from the camera crop:

Yeah, I found that out earlier this week. I couldn't be happier with the lens, but I am a little upset that I overpaid by about $100. Not for long, though. The Sigma is on its way from www.17photo.com, and the Quantaray is going back!
