I see here on Steve's that the New Minolta DSLR 7 will have a 24-105 Zoom lens.

Canon . . . . . ARE you listening?? I have said for 6 months or longer, the 28-135 IS zoom which I own, should be re-designed to a 24-135 IS! Several other Manufacturers make something similar:

Nikon has the 24-120 VR, Sigma makes a 24-135, & Tamron makes a 24-135. This 4mm more would help out on wide shots a LOT! One person even suggeted a while back a Canon 20-105mm 2.8! That would be Super! Or maybe it was a 22-105. Heck, make it a 2.8 & NOT a high dollar 'L' lens, unless they could price it reasonable.

L8R,

David

Aren't all thoses "digital" lens only optimized for the 1.x factor?

See Canon have a 1Ds in their arsenal unlike the other OEMs so they can't put out an affordable 'L' and says it won't work on a full-frame or marginally on a 1D mrk-II, let alone a wide aperture f/2.8 which is much easier to do (and cheaper) when a lens is designed only for APS sized cameras!

Sometimes yes somethimes no. Digital sensors need for the light to hit the sensor in a more or less orthagonal way. Without this at the edges of a camera such as the 1ds will have severe vignetting. Then there are lenses such as the ef-s lens and the 4/3 system, which are only useable with smaller sensors.

Almost forgot the angle the light hits the sensor has to do with the placement of the rear lens element
