Hi All.
I'm new here ,so bear with me. I've done searches on the topic and probably recieved too many answers to sort through.I recently purchased a 10d and 70-200 f4. I need something shorter for a trip up the Oregon coast next week. I was looking at the Tamron 28-70 but want something shorter than that. I can't afford L lenses. One Canon lense I never see mentioned is the Canon 20-35usm. Any experience with it? Also there is an inexpensive Tamron 19-35?Looking for something before we leave on Sunday. Any input would be appreciatted.
Thanks,
Zaxdad

I would go with the 24-70mm F2.8 Sigma or the 28-70 F2.8 Sigma, a "short" lens is great and lighter but as I have found out low light and not having good range can make you miss a shot a 20-35 mm lens would leave you missing alot of room between 35-70mm so thus you have to quicky change lenses or where you stand(not always an option) to make up for that room or else chance yourself missing a once in a lifetime shot..

around or close $500 street price...the new Sigma 24-60mm F/2.8 is selling for $399, you can expect with wider and longer range, the new 18-50mm EX F/2.8 is going to cost about $100 more, should be available Sep 1st, 2004

MSRP $600 = $500 "street" price :-):-):-)

Either way check out the Sigma 12-24mm, there's nothing like it from Canon for your landscape. You might get by with this lens until the 18-50mm f/2.8 becomes available to complement it!

I have no personal knowledge of this lenses performance, but if it's anything like it's 28-70 lens, it's worth taking a strong look at.

I have an older version of this lens: http://www.tipa.com/awa_detail.lasso...&-KeyValue=113

Cost the same as the Tamron but it comes in ultrasonic HSM (ie fast + silent AF)!
