Tamron Zoom Telephoto AF 200-400mm f/5.6 LD Autofocus lens.
Is this lens going to be fast enough to do night time sports photography with my Canon 10d?

Any input would be appreciated.

It's not really on-topic for this forum since it's not an "Add-On Lens" (a converter lens you attach to another lens to increase the ability of the first lens)...it's a dSLR lens. That's probably why you aren't getting responses here.

Since it's for a Canon, you may want to try in the "Canon Lens" forum in the dSLR section here:

I Had the 200-400mm Tamron LD when I was shooting 35mm. Bulky, but razor sharp and great for sports & wildlife. at F5.6, NIGHTIME sports is a "reach" and with a digital camera, It may not be as sharp, due to lack of new coatingsneeded with the digital sensor size. I'd recommend the new 200-500 Tamron "DI" lens
