Hello,

I know, I can probably answer that question by myself but I want some other opinions on that.

Is it worth buying a Canon 20D body + sigma 18-125mm F3,5-5,6
instead of a 20d with kit lense?

I don't have much experience with lenses but I guess the sigma will work good with the 20D, what do you think?

I use the 18-125 on my 10D, I used to use the 18-55 kit lens on my 300D when I had it, the 18-125 is a better lens, sharper and nicer colour, feels better made and I've had no focus problems at all, not even indoors under normal incandescant bulbs. As a general purpose walk around lens there isn't much else to compare.

I would have loved to like this lens. But I found it was inconsistantly focussing (it had horrendous front focussing issues sometimes) and it was noticeably softer than my 28-135 Canon lens. I even sent it away to Sigma who replaced some circuit or other. No difference.

So, in the end, I part exchanged it for a 17-40L lens.

My advice is to try and borrow one before you buy it.
