Here's a basic question for you. Imagine an image taken with a 50 mm lens divided by the thirds rule so that theit is divided into 9 segments. If I want to re-takethe picture so that one of these 9 segments fills the entire image, do I need to use a 450 mm lens?

Thanks,

Sci

I think I've found my own answer. It would take a 150 mm lens. The center segment is one third of the picture along the bottom or side, therefore 3 X 50 mm, ora 150 mm lens will allow me to zoom in on the center of the image.
