Of course Steve's is my first stop for camera reviews, but what about lenses? Can anyone recommend a site that has complete objective coverage of the available Canon and independent EF lenses?

Thanks for that. I'm really looking for technicaly objective reviews of performance. User reviews (for anything) tend to be a little emotionally charged! Although I'll admit that people who post on lens review sites are generally a little more mature than the "this game sucks" or "that bike ROCKS!" crowd!

For example, though, looking at the reviews on the 20 F/2.8 prime it's difficult to know if this lens is any good or not. Some say it's great, others complain about sharpness. Now; I used to own one of these and had loads of fun with it in my pre-digital days. I liked the pictures it produced, but am not skilled enough to objectively judge their optical merits. I sure as hell don't remember it being "pure mush" or "a real dissapointment" as some of the user reviews had it. In fact, the reviews of this particular lens were so split it's impossible to get a good feelingfor it, except perhaps there was a quality inconsistency.

Thanks again

For objective technical data you can always start with the MTF from the manufacturer's sites, and then do your own screening from the 'subjective' reviewers...

True

but I'm lazy and I like my info pre-digested. Plus I'm too thick to read those graphs. Finally; I don't trust anything any manufacturer says (being one myself...!)

I thought photodo stopped updating a few years ago. Great for the tried and true lenses but won't be of much help for lenses released in the last few years. Too bad too. The concept is great!
