Hello all. I'm near buying an EOS 300D, but I need it mainly for interior shots. a focal length of 28, speaking in 35mm equivalent, is not enough for me... I need at least 24 or 20. But I must avoid at all costs a fisheye effect. Line distortion would be terrible for my job. My budget is quite limited (under eur 1000 for both the camera and the lenses, where the camera alone costs eur 650). so I can't spend more than eur 350 for the lens. Any advice? *is* there actually something which fits my needs, or do I need to spend eur 1300 or more as the shop owner told me?

Thank you,
Yirtne

Hi,

Early congrats on the DSLR. Here is a lens that might fit your Budget. It is the Tokina 19-35. It is not the fastest lens out there , But still good for the price.

Also the kit lens is not too bad. This decision is going to be yours in the end. Best bet is to go to a camera store and try the ones that fit into your needs and budget.

Good Luck

Yirtne needs it smaller than 17 (ie wider than 28mm):

yeah, thank you for your replies. I need a wide angle lens, I've tried sticking photos together but it's not a reliable way of doing things when you need precision.

The Coolpix 8400 seemed to be a good idea, but I think I'll need the EOS 300d if I want to go into more serious photography. It's a pity that this camera doesn't record movies as well, but I suppose no reflex camera does. I guess I'll go for the 300D + tokina 12-24 lenses. Thanks so much!
