Looking for a new lens for my Canon 10D. Was just wondering

if anyone in the forum has had time to try the new Tamron

18-200 XR Di II lens? If so I would like to hear about it in this forum.

This is the one I think I would like to have to replace what I have

on the camera now.

I think I would wait and check out the Sigma version. I have the 18-125 Sigma and I am quite happy with it. Does a nice all around job. Not as crisp as my "L" lenses but I am not ashamed of them either. No one lens can do it all but so far my Sigma is better than the almost equivalent Canon.

Find the test shots quoted in this thread- look at the full wide angle shots with wide-open aperture. Examine the areas in the extremes- particularly the trees against the key in the corners. The images are terrible! 100% unacceptable in my opinion. Once stopped down they pictures are OK, but why have to limit yourself like that? I am awaiting test shots with the 18-200 Sigma. If they are not dramatically better than the Tamron is exhibiting, then I will be looking for some other lens. It would be nice to be able to carry just one lens, but the bottom line is that it has to be able to take good pics!
