I dont know what happened to my previous post, I guess it got removed since it was negative about the lens. However...

The lens I have now is _definitively_ sharper than the previous one that I tested. I tested this lens extensively for several hours on Friday and was quite pleased with the results.

However, just to make sure, I used this lens with some models over the weekend and shot about 1500 images, primarily at F2.8 - F3.5 - F4.

This lens is absolutely sharp - although a few images did have a distinct blur, that was most likely "operator error" related to the shallow DoF and not the lens itself.

Additionally, I tested the Sigma 24-70 and was actually surprised by how well it performed. I did not like the sound the gears made as the AF locked in - it sounds like sand is grinding on metal, but that is a nit-picky thing- For a zoom lens at that price, I thinkit is a great deal.

I hope this post doesnt get removed too - I am simply being honest about the results of the lens tests, both in studio and in the field.

It's there: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...02&forum_id=65

The Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 EX is an absolute bargain - BTW it's also a full-frame so you are only using the best part of an already excellent lens on a 'digital' camera - you just have to get over the fact that this lens is not an HSM (ie silent)
