the sigma 70-300 macro super II is better than than any of canon's offerings in a similar price range.. the catch is there are two versions.. make sure you get the APO version.. you can get it here which i would suggest over ebay..

Let me reiterate that you make sure it is the APO Macro Super II and not the DG, which is cheaper and inferior.

Otherwise this is a sharp lens with (1) somewhat slow focus, (2) outer lens barrel turns with focus making polarizers difficult. And, since it has no tripod collar, it does tend to droop on a plain ball head especially on cameras with a battery grip.

Good butterfly lens, though, thanks to the semimacro feature (only from 200mm up).

I'm with Charlie. But Wburychka is right... I had trouble with my cheap ball head and went to a Bogen flip head f(@20$it's a bargain too) on my mono pod.It still droopswhen i move around if i have the camera flipped up in portrait. So i feel as if i have to hold on to the lens while i walk. Other then that i love it... For the money.

Here is some non-macro

Amy The catcher

Uh It's a fastball. Dude... II

And a macro.

Silver Dollar blossom

I'm sure these could be better but I'll blame me for that.
Good luck
