I have an old AE-1 with24mm wide angle and100mm-200mm zoom lenses. Would they properly fit on a Canon Digital Rebel XT? If so, how would they perform in comparison to similar lenses made for the Rebel?

The AE-1 used the old Canon FD mount lenses.

The Rebel uses the Canon EOS EF mount lenses. It can properly use any EF or EF-s mount lens.

The lenses from the old FD series will not fit or work with EOS series cameras.

If you could get them to fit (and there are manual adapters) they would not perform optically as well as the modern EF lenses. Lens technology has advanced quite a bit since they were made.

Np, I also have a a1 and an ae-1p gathering dust now :-).

Edit: that 24mm wide angle would act as a 38.4mm on the digital Rebel. :-) wide has a whole new meaning with the digitals. You need a 15mm to get the same effect as the 24mm used to give you on 35mm film.
