I'm in the market for a used Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens for my Canon 20D. Are there different versions of this lens? Which one will work with the 20D?

The Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX is a very popular lens competing with the best of Canon -> You'll have a tough time finding one which won't hold its value! ;)

They did make an 'antique' 70-210 f/2.8 which you may find once in a while @ a give away price, but I would recommend against that one:
1. It does not have HSM
2. It's from an era where Sigma are known to have the lens re-worked for newer cameras

If you really want a 70-200 f/2.8 @ a more affordable price check out Tokina:
-> Theses are all metal lenses with glass from Hoya famed and are of parafocal in design, just like the Sigma, i.e. they will hold their focus while zooming (unlike the 'you know who')... The Tokina's ATX are their high line very similar to the Sigma EX

The only thing you're really giving up is the ultrasonic drive of the Sigma

Thanks NHL for the tip! So there's only one 70-200mm f2.8 lens from Sigma? It's the EX HSM DG model?

As far as the Tokina lens goes, is it as good optically as the Sigma? Does it also focus as fast on a 20D? I don't mind about the lack of HSM. Thanks again!

The 'DG' is the revised version of the same lens without - as fas as I understand only minor cosmestic changes and some 'new' lens coating...

As to the Tokina: ;)
