Ok, got the lens off ebay. Seller said there were no scratches whatsoever. When I got it, there's about a quarter inch very very slight scratch on the front element. You will not see it unless you tilt the lens in a certain angle. Looks like the coating is scratched off, or is it the glass. I don't see any effects on the photos taken though. Oh well.

Anyway, I've taken a couple of outdoor photos. Looks pretty good despite my shaky hands...can't tell at all that my hands were shaking. I took a few indoor photos...not so good...I guess it's cuz of my shaky hands. I see camera shake on the photos. Any tips you guys can give me for indoor shots?

It turns out that what I had perceived as a scratch was merely just cleaning lens fluid residue that I was able to wipe off.

As far as indoor camera shake goes, what would I need to set my 20D on to minimize effects of my shaky hands? I would prefer not to use a tripod.

As a rule of thumb slighly above the 1/focal lenght shutter speed...

However at close distance you can go slower - ie the shake is not as magnified even @ full zoom.

Just experiment!
