Does anyone know the differences or where I can read about the differences between the Tokina 17mm AT-X (72mm) and the 17mm AT-X Pro (77mm)?

the Pro line has better coatings and a more rigid build construction.. but as for those two particular models, i have no experience..

The Tokina 17mm AT-X (72mm) is an older design which is superceded by the revised 'Pro' version with a gold ring:
