Believe it or not, the best deals are usually found at your local Pawn shop

I got my 55-200mm USM lens from Cash America Pawn for $65 bucks out the door and it was still wrapped in plastic in the original box:G

I usually hit either Ritz, Cameta or B&H when I wanna try out a lens, then go hunting at the local Pawn shops or eBay....

Huh? You didn't hear? Canon came out with a new 18-55 f2.8 L USMDOIS lens. Can't want to try it out...

I would get the Sigma 70-300 APO DO (non-IS) for $200 before the Canon one.
I totally agree I have this lens and I love it. Plus it has a great macro feature!

I assume you mean "DG" and not "DO"? I see a Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro at B&H for $219.95. Is this the lens that everyone is mentioning?

ps. to many types within the same zoom range:sad:I was looking at the Canon 75-300 with IS but it appears to be an inferior lens for $440!

Thanks, Gerry
