Well, I stopped at Samy's (a wonderful resource for those of us in SoCal) and checked out the lenses. The counter man really poo-pooed the Sigme 30 1.4. Apparently they don't have a licensing agreement with Canon, so the electronics have given some folks problems. He also didn't have one in stock. Hmmm. Anyway he brought the 24L out. Oh man, what a beautiful hunk of glass. I hemmed and hawed and squirmed and finally pulled out the credit card and plunked it down. Yes it is heavy and costly and won't have as shallow of a dof as a full frame w/50mm 1.4, but when I got home and took the first few pics with it and saw the bokeh that it produces I was a happy.

Thanks fellas.

What a wonderful lens that is. Got to mess around with one of thosethis past Sundayat a Photoshop Seminar here in Dallaswith Rick Sammon. The Canon reps were there with EVERYTHING you could want to play with. Got totry a 70-300 DO lens for the first time, anda 5D with a 17-40L mounted among everything else. I usea 17-40with a 10D and Digital Rebel. I forgot how wide that darn thing can be on a 35mm sensor-sized camera. Those tables were like a siren calling me in to crash on the rocks of financial sensibility.

Now you simply must finish this thread with a few pics from your new lens. :-)

OK. Here you go. No great artistic renderings here, just some shots so that I can get a feel of what this baby can do. My cluttered kitchen table is the background on this one.

A friend had me over to see his new wide screen TV. It was dusk outside with incandescent light inside. I did adjust temp in Elements raw window.
