I've been reading a bunch more for an all-in-one lens. Looks like the Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC is a good choice as well. Might be the perfect travel lens when you can only bring just one lens.

AlpineMan - I have a Sigma 18-200 and it's terrific as a one lens solution on the 20D or Rebel XT. It does NOT have the clarity of some of the Canon lenses at 200 but it's pretty dang good throughout the range and very good in the short to mid lengths (18-125). I find it excellent for a vacation lens since it goes from wide to tele without changing lenses.

Here are some photos taken with the lens on a moving boat: http://www.hollyandmary.com/gallery/photo.php?photo=438 All the photos from here forward in the gallery were taken with the Sigma 18-200. This is no scientific test, mind you, just a day out on the water where we were using it. Hope this helps - Mary

Thank you Mary for the link, and also thanks for the pix of the lens, I was afraid that the 18-200 would be a big lens, but it doesn't look like it.

I'm still awaiting the arrival of the XT which is today
