Is it advisable to put a regular 82mm UV filter (or any filter for that matter) on this lens? I noticed that the lens hood ring has threads which may allow me to attach a an 82mm filter instead of using a gel filter (whatever that is). If I do put a regular filter, the distance from the filter to the lens glass itself would be approximately 1 inch. Will that cause any bad side effects on photo quality? Thanks.

Around ~14-15mm is where the hood will vignette

I don't use a UV but a polarizer instead, and slide the whole hood assembly off when I go wider; otherwise the hood/filter also double as protection...
